The discussion about mother dates back to the history of humanity. Her role and place in society have always been the focus of attention. The present research examines the qualities of a worthy mother from the perspectives of religious and psychological doctrines. The goal is the qualitative promotion of mother's role and ultimately the excellence of individual, family and society.
The present research which has been conducted using analytical descriptive method has studied authentic Islamic and psychological sources in the years 1984 – 2012 as well as theses related to the same subject matter. Some of the conclusions inferred from these sources are the following: Faith and piety, belief in the role of motherhood, physical and mental health, behavioralmoderation, accountability, awarenessof motherhood responsibilities, knowledge of the principles and techniques ofeducation, discipline and planning, good manners, honesty, stability of personality,individualdifferences, appreciationof children, authority in education, etc.
