One of the most important challenges of family in the today's world is the increase in the changes of families. This study aims to explain the current sociological changes in the Tehran's families with emphasis on the couple's tendency to virtual social networks based on the theories of Giddens, Habermas, Berger, Luckman, Castells, Waldhal, Clapper, Thompson, Nai, and the Gerbner's cultivation theory. In this study which is a survey research, the key dimensions of changes in the Tehran's families were identified and then suggested some indexes for assessing them with the help of theoretical approaches to the family and existing researches. By cluster and quota sampling, 400 people were selected as the sample among the couples living in Tehran, Zone 5 (112986 people). The data were gathered by guided questionnaire and they were analyzed with SPSS software. The findings showed that there is a significant difference between couple users and non-users of virtual social networks in terms of weakening kinship ties, isolationist tendencies, not adhering to marital obligations, cold relationships, and marital distrust. In addition, the results of multiple regression and path analyses showed that, in general, 64% of current changes in the Tehran's families depend on using virtual social networks.
