This correlational study was conducted with the aim of explaining the relationship between the relation of parent-child and Iranian-Islamic identity with the mediation of self-esteem among students with a non-experimental method. The population included 18-25 year old students of the Tehran universities and 262 students were selected by the convenience sampling. The data were collected by a researcher-made questionnaire of Iranian-Islamic identity, a standard questionnaire of the relation of parent-child, and Rosenberg's self-esteem scale. The construct validity of the researcher-made questionnaire was checked with the confirmatory factor analysis and the fit of the research conceptual model with the structural equation modeling using AMOS software. The findings showed that there is a good fit between the structural model and gathered data. In addition, the relation of parent-child and self-esteem significantly have direct effect on Iranian-Islamic identity, and self-esteem plays a significant and negative role as a mediator of the relationship between the relation of parent-child and Iranian-Islamic identity. The relation of parent-child and self-esteem explain 48% of the variance of Iranian-Islamic identity among the students.
