Parenting and rearing customs have long been the focus of philosophers, writers, and cultural elites, and a part of it is reflected in the ancient texts of the Persian language. This qualitative research was conducted with the aim of investigating parenting customs in the fourth to eighth centuries A.H. based on literary and historical prose texts using the content analysis based on the study of original texts. The findings of the research showed that there are subtle and valuable points before and after the birth of the child to ensure his/her physical, mental, and spiritual health. Considering that the structure of most families was domineering in the past, some verbal and behavioral advices and subtleties to parents - in the position of the owners of power and authority - are thought-provoking and significant. Naming children and using appropriate nicknames for them, expressing love and respect for them, observing justice between children of the same and opposite sex, protecting and caring for children at the expense of one's own life or that of the child, paying attention to and emphasizing children's play, carefully choosing a nanny according to special characteristics, advices, education, training, and the important position of punishment and encouragement are among the things that were identified in the literary texts.
