This research was conducted with the aim of the representation and discourse interpretation of the patterns of Iranian family regarding the attitude towards domestic work in single girls' lived experience using a qualitative method of discourse analysis based on the interpretivism paradigm; thus, five patterns of Iranian family, including postmodern family, modern family, family in transition, traditional family, and religious family, were represented with the help of theoretical framework of interpretive sociology and David Cheal's social constructionism theory. The analytical elements of articulation, master signifier, floating signifiers, nominalization, exclusion, and foregrounding were applied for analyzing and compering the patterns of family. The population of the research included single girls aged 18 to 28 in the city of Qom. 50 of them were selected by the judgmental sampling and they participated in semi-structured in-depth interviews until the theoretical saturation was reached. According to the results, the pattern of religious family is the most appropriate and efficient family in comparison with other patterns because of its potential positive attributes. These attributes are as follows: being justice-oriented, collectivism at the same time as individualism, the introduction of religious patterns, dynamics and the possibility of adapting to the conditions, being supported and compatible with the social structures, paying attention to the individual wishes regarding worldly and hereafter happiness, being family-oriented, and emphasis on consultation and ethics. However, it is necessary to diagnose the practices of actualizing this pattern.
