Factors Responsible for Formation and Development of Attachment in a Child according to Islamic Sources (prenatal stage)

Abstract

This study seeks to discover the factors responsible for formation and development of attachment in a child on the basis of Islamic sources. A descriptive – analytical method has been used to refer to first hand sources with the help of trustworthy software and by way of studying Islamic educational sources. Thus Islam's teachings regarding the subject of research were analyzed. A study of the verses and Islamic narration revealed that Islam's comprehensive perspective considers this phenomenon as a procedure which not only comes into being from birth but it starts from the time of conception and there are many factors involved. The development of attachment in young children is divided into two sub-stages: One pre-marital stage and another post-marital stage. In the pre-marital sub-stage, the factors responsible for development of attachment is the selection of a suitable wife (kindhearted and attentive to the needs of the child) and paying attention to the genetic characteristics of the mother. In the post-marital sub-stage, one can identify a number of factors such as the condition of conception, mother's food and peace of mind. These are some of the most important conditions of the development of attachment in a child.
These factors were evaluated by ten experts to confirm the narrative content. Kendall'scoefficient ofconcordanceandchi-square (X2)significance were used to examine the degree of concordance and significance among the views of the ten experts. Kendallconcordanceindex of0.187atthe 0.05 levelindicates the degree of experts' agreement about the items' concordance with Islamic documents and which suitable narrative indicators of the content of the factors responsible for attachment.
