Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of group-based spirituality therapy on the psychological resilience of mothers with children with intellectual disabilities and was conducted in a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design with a control group. The population included mothers with children with intellectual disabilities whose children were studying in elementary school in Tabriz exceptional schools in the academic year 2022-2023. To conduct the study, 42 of these mothers were selected by the convenience sampling and randomly assigned to the test and control groups. Participants in the test group received 12 sessions of spirituality therapy, and the control group remained on the waiting list. The data were collected using Richardson's resilience questionnaire (pretest and posttest) and analyzed with multivariate analysis of covariance. The results showed that group-based spirituality therapy has a significant effect on the psychological resilience of mothers with children with intellectual disabilities with an effect size of 0.462 (P<0.05). Therefore, specialists can use spirituality therapy as an effective intervention to improve the psychological resilience of mothers with children with intellectual disabilities
