Objective: The decrease in the marriage rate, which has consequences such as social problems and a decrease in population growth, is one of the fundamental challenges of contemporary society and is of concern to jurists. The present study was conducted in the realm of Imamieh jurisprudence with the aim of critiquing and examining the narrative "Hallat al-Ozubah" which is stated in support of a celibate life.
Method: The present research was conducted in the realm of Imamieh jurisprudence using an analytical-documentary method based on jurisprudential arguments and with an Ijtihadi perspective.
Results: The results of the studies show that the aforementioned narrative was considered correct from the perspective of the ancients, but from the perspective of the later ones, it lacks documentary authority. The narrative literally implies that "celibacy is Halal" and not "obligatory celibacy". Even assuming the acceptance of the documentary validity of the narrative and the other party's interpretation of it, this interpretation conflicts with a set of narratives that introduce marriage as a recommended and emphasized matter. In addition, based on the context of the narrative, it is considered necessary to solve the problems of livelihood in the end times through wise measures, and the recommendation of marriage is removed in those circumstances, and only its permissibility remains. Moreover, according to the content of some narratives, humans are obliged to the previous rulings, and until a definitive abrogation is found, the same rulings are applied. Therefore, the previous validity of the recommendation of marriage will continue in the end times.
Conclusions: The narrative "Hallat al-Ozubah" neither indicates the necessity of celibacy, nor can it be a definitive document for promoting a celibate life. Even if the documentary validity of the narrative is accepted, due to the conflict with other narratives supporting marriage, the previous validity of the recommendation of marriage will still be continued. Therefore, the teachings of Imamieh jurisprudence generally emphasize the importance and recommendation of marri$age, and a celibate life does not have a binding jurisprudential position
